WAC urges federal government to implement Sackett instead of doubling down

Washington, D.C. (June 14, 2023) – Waters Advocacy Coalition (WAC), a broad cross-section of small businesses, farmers, energy producers and job creators, released the following statement responding to the federal government’s appeal to lift the freeze on the 2023 “waters of the U.S.” (WOTUS) rule in 24 states.

Congress, the courts, and most recently the U.S. Supreme Court have delivered a resounding rejection of the federal overreach in the 2023 WOTUS rule,” said Courtney Briggs of the Waters Advocacy Coalition. “The Supreme Court’s ruling offers farmers, small businesses, private property owners and job creators clarity to continue to support the needs of America’s families while also protecting our nation’s valuable water resources. Rather than doubling down, we urge the federal government to promptly implement the Court’s decision in Sackett v. EPA.”
